I’m so excited to be able to share this. G.P. Putnam’s Sons (an imprint of Penguin) will be publishing my book, GOLDEN BOYS in Winter 2015. Here it is!
April 22, 2013
Stacey Lee’s debut GOLDEN BOYS, pitched as a young adult western Thelma & Louise, in which a Chinese girl and a house slave disguise themselves as cowboys to run from the law, seek revenge for a murder, and find freedom in the California Gold Rush frontier, to Jennifer Besser at Putnam Children’s, in a nice deal, by Kristin Nelson at Nelson Literary Agency (NA).
I kind of want to hug the whole world right now, and not just because it’s Earth Day!
Just the facts, ma’am.
Started subbing: June, 2012.
Rejections: more than the number of fingers and toes I own (and ears and eyes). (And nose.)
Revisions: 1, major
What I was doing when Agent Kristin called with the good news: getting my hearing tested. Which is why I didn’t hear her call. (Hearing’s fine, btw). After the ear doctor appointment, I bought myself a vegan chocolate cherry cookie then went home. I discovered the cookie was burnt on the bottom. I resigned myself to another burnt cookie kind of day.
Then I listened to my messages, and voila! Cookies, what cookies?
I’m so thankful for my tenacious agent, Kristin Nelson, and all the wonderful people who supported me along the way!
